A Mother’s Love and a Son’s Strength
Sheldon is 10 years old and the light of his mother’s life. As her only child, it has been just the two of them for so long, facing life’s challenges together. In 2020, their world changed when Sheldon was diagnosed with an ependymoma brain tumor. He bravely underwent surgery, radiation, and maintenance chemotherapy. But as time passed, new lesions appeared. Despite supportive treatments, his tumor has continued to grow, now visibly protruding from his skull. There are no curative options left—only time.
Sheldon’s quality of life has declined significantly. He can no longer see, experiences frequent pain, and is unable to attend school or interact with friends as he once did. His mother does everything she can to make his days as comfortable and joyful as possible while also working to keep up with bills and essentials.
One of Sheldon’s greatest joys is something simple—green grapes. Every day, his mom buys him a fresh bag, knowing it’s one of the little things that brings him happiness. Despite his hardships, Sheldon’s wild sense of humor shines through. He loves attending oncology camps, cuddling with Canter the therapy dog, and making everyone around him laugh.
With the financial support from the Big Z Foundation, Sheldon’s mom will be able to take time off work to spend precious moments with him. She hopes to create a special holiday memory, preparing a home-cooked meal since Sheldon has asked for nothing else this Christmas. The support will also help cover essential expenses so they can focus on what truly matters—cherishing their time together.
Because of your generosity, families like Sheldon’s don’t have to face these moments alone. Your support provides not just financial relief, but the ability for a mother to hold her son close, making every moment count.Together, we can create more stories of resilience and miracles.
